In April you can download the G.O.S. form and submit to the College by April 30. 2. Get your scholarity evaluated. Bring HR all your official transcripts and diplomas (within 30 days), or bring an official Attestation de scolarité from the Minister of Education. 3. Get your experience evaluated. Get letters from previous employers confirming past employment experience and submit them to HR (within 30 days). Any job can be credited, not just teaching, provided it is somewhat related to your discipline. If you were self-employed, special procedures apply (contact the DTU). 4. Mark down in your agenda the need to submit another G.O.S. in the month of April. 5. Become a DTU member. |

Your most important duty is to send your G.O.S. form (General Offer of Services) to Human Resources, between April 1 and April 30, each year. |
This will activate your hiring priority for the next academic year.
If you do not send your G.O.S. between April 1 and April 30, you will lose your hiring priority for the next academic year. You cannot be late!
Work is distributed by order of hiring priority.
If you are a part-time teacher: also apply to continuing education and summer school postings (see right column).
In April, download the G.O.S. form or get a copy from Human Resources and submit it before the April 30 deadline.
In Cont Ed, you must apply to each posting for which you would like to be considered.
Once you apply for a posting in your discipline, this activates your hiring priority for the course in that posting.
To know what postings are available, check the Dawson College web site:
Cont Ed Postings
Postings are "posted" for 10 days only, so check often, particularly:
In early November (for winter).
In early April (for summer).
In early May (for fall).
Send a G.O.S. form now (within 30 days of hiring) to Human Resources (HR). This may strengthen your chance to teach in regular education.
Your rights and obligations are defined in the collective agreement. You should have a copy. However, since the document is not very "reader friendly," a number of more digestible options exist: FREE!
Attend one of the special "Non-perms" or "Cont
Ed" information meetings
These meetings seek to inform and answer any of your questions on job security, workloads, leaves, sick days, duties, etc. Each meeting is organised once or twice per term. For dates and times, check the news & events section of this web site, or check the
Owl Hoots (the DTU newsletter).
If you would like to be individually informed of the next meeting, call Elisabeth at local 1799.
